About Me
Several years ago, I had an epiphany — one of those life-changing, scary, yet freeing moments when I was willing to start letting go of my agenda and let God lead the way. I’ll admit it wasn’t easy. I had spent nine months doing lots of soul searching and hard work. I wanted life to be different. I wanted to find real meaning and purpose—something like fulfilling my God-given destiny.
At the time my husband and I still had three teens at home and one in college. Life was hard with one of those teens. The stress and conflict left little time for reflection. I was stuck in a role that no longer brought joy and fulfillment and I couldn’t seem to find a way out. I was existing rather than living. My heart’s desire was to thrive but I didn’t know how to make it happen.
It was through the hard work that the revelation came. Within a year of that moment, I was flourishing. I had a passion, resiliency, and a new confidence to live life with purpose. Even though I was still dealing with stressful parenting issues, I had learned to thrive. Helping others experience what I had learned for myself became my mission—to help other people (especially parents) begin to flourish regardless of their circumstances.
The road to change can be winding, painful, discouraging, unpredictable yet strengthening and healing. What I do now as a Professional Certified Parenting and Relationship Coach is guide you down your road to change with wisdom and grace. I use my background as a Human Resource Professional and a Conflict Resolution and Mediation Specialist to give you the vision of what can be and help you gain a different perspective. My experience as a Communication and Life-Change trainer will give you the tools you’ll need to get unstuck and become the person God designed you to be.
Why coaching?
Typically, when parents encounter struggles with their teens, the first thought is to find a good therapist. While therapy at times is necessary, it is important to understand that these mental health professionals are trained to dive into deep-seated emotional issues to work on personal healing or trauma recovery. They explore the past in order to understand the present focused on figuring out the “why” for healing.
Coaching takes a different approach. Coaching is about visioning for successful forward movement. It’s about helping you understand “who” you are and then figure out “how” to move from the place you currently find yourself to the place where you want to be. Most coaches focus specifically in areas where they have passion and experience. They’ve been trained to help you understand the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that are driving the action. It’s part of coaching from the inside out.
Why Debbie?
I offer an opportunity to help you vision and move forward in living your best life. Though we are all on a journey, there are many common elements of parenting success based on who you are. This is not about “right” answers but it is about finding your perspective and what personal growth and development look like. I can help give you insight into how you show up in life based on your attitude and perceptions and you’ll gain clarity on how you react to stress. This insight can help you make a shift from your stressed and struggling self to becoming the person you want to be.
My experience as a human resources professional and conflict resolution and mediation specialist add depth to the coaching experience as well as 30+ years of experience as the mother of four – one being a challenging child. I’ve worked forged communications techniques among church youth groups and worked with parents across the country in developing success patterns that end in successful and powerful changes in the dynamics of their parent/child relationships. My goal is to get you unstuck from your current circumstances and help you gain momentum to be all that God designed you to be.
Supplementing day to day life experience, I am certified through the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC), an International Coach Federation accredited program. Utilizing my other certifications such as being acknowledged as an ELI (Energy Leadership Index) Master Practitioner and being a Transitions Specialist I offer a wide range of perspectives to equip parents for a new fresh beginning on their journey to successful parenting.
